Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with The Family Place!  Currently, due to Covid-19, we are unable to have on-site orientations or utilize volunteers at this time. We do encourage you to host donation drives, collect/donate items to our Resale Shop, and visit our Amazon wish list to provide much needed support for our clients.

During normal circumstances, volunteers serve an integral role in the operation of the agency. The gifts of their time and talent in our programming and fundraising efforts support our efforts to keep an open door to battered women and their children from throughout the DFW community. Whether you are an individual, part of a church, scouting or community group or a corporate entity, we will work with you to find a meaningful placement on The Family Place volunteer team. Note: On-site volunteers must be over the age of 18.

Your first step is click on the Get Started button below. Once you have completed the application you will receive an email with orientation instructions. Volunteers are required to complete the application, a Criminal Background Check and read and sign that they have read our hand book.

Work Behind the Scenes

ADMINISTRATIVE HELP

If you enjoy administrative work, we are always in need of help at our locations around Dallas area. Typical volunteer assignments include greeting visitors, filing, clerical work, answering phones and data entry.

PARTNERS CARD

Seasonally, we use volunteers to assist in our Partners Card fundraiser, selling cards, inputting donor records and processing sales receipts.

FUNDRAISING AND EVENT PLANNING

Are you a fund raiser? Your expertise can assist us in planning, organizing and running our major fundraisers—FORE! The Family Place Golf & Tennis Tournament, Texas Trailblazer Awards Luncheon, ReuNight and Partners Card.

RESALE SHOP AND BOUTIQUE

Volunteers assist in merchandising and retail sales, as well as sorting incoming donations of clothing, personal and household items.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Your group can hold a special event for the women and children at the Safe Campus or in one of our Outreach programs. We are always looking for sponsors to provide a celebration, a game day, carnival or any other event in your imagination during the holidays, or any time, throughout the year. Volunteers also assist in the Adopt-a-Family program sorting donations, provide treats for the children in the Child Development Center for holidays throughout the year and staff other special projects as needed.
